We got very close to having it get made – we had a deal in place and a director. But for us there’s no burning [desire] to have a movie made just to get it made. For us and for Take-Two, it’s really got to be something that will a) give the fans something that they want, and b) for those who don’t know BioShock, really introduce them to something that is consistent with the game, and is it going to be a good representation of the game. There are differences between games and movies, no doubt, but the movie has to draw from the same DNA in terms of the world and the story beats. But you know, we don’t have a need to get it made.
Ken Levine (Creator of Bioshock) talks about the how any plans to make a film adaptation of the beloved Video Game series, are dead.
The Halloween Movie Watch List - #6 - ERNEST SCARED STUPID
You may ask yourself, (if you are one of the few that do read this) why did he pick this movie? To be honest, it mostly has to do with the fact that for the longest time. This is one of the only movies I had a copy of. I watched it every Halloween and have been known on occasion to dust off the old VHS and relive my childhood. Know what I mean?
If you would like a more in-depth and slightly deeper reason. I can tell you that Jim Varney is probably one of the most gifted Actors of all-time and sadly, is also one of the most underrated.
I think this is probably one of the best “Ernest” films simply because it fits so well with the completely absurd and goofy antics of the character. Varney was able to play so many different characters and I think this highlights his ability fairly well.
This is also a great movie to start the little ones on if you want to test the waters with the “scary stuff”. Take it from me! When I was a kid the Trolls scared the crap out of me, so I can imagine those kids that haven’t been exposed to this kind of movie before may be a little freaked out.
But this is certainly a great movie to watch every Halloween and when I get around to having a kid. This will be a regular Holiday viewing tradition. It is just one of those movies that if you grew up on it, then it will always hold a special place in your heart.

Random Anecdote #1 - Mom and the Living Dead

My Mom and I were trying to find something to watch and I said “How about Near Dark? It has Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton and they are Vampires.” She looked up and said “No, I don’t like Vampire movies.” So I started flipping again and saw that George A. Romero was on AMC’s Fear Fest. So I was like, “Have you seen Night of the Living Dead?” And she says, “Does it have Vampires in it?” There was a good 5-minute long silence and blank stares between the two of us, and I gotta say. I died a little inside. AS GOD AS MY WITNESS! I AM GETTING MY MOM TO WATCH NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD!

We did however end up watching John Carpenter’s Halloween and it ended up being a good night. I am lucky to have a Mom who enjoys the occasional Slasher Flick. :)

The Halloween Movie Watch List - #8 - PUMPKINHEADWhen trying to do this list, I really didn’t want to pick what I like to call, “The Big 3”. That would consist of Freddy, Jason, and Michael Myers. Every Halloween you turn on the TV and you can always find those guys on. So I have tried to avoid the really big name Horror movies and have tried to pick a different smattering of films that will either bring the kid out in you or make you a little uneasy as you sit in the dark. That is why I chose this next film, Pumpkinhead. Directed by the legendary FX Artist, Stan Winston. Pumpkinhead tells the story of Ed Harley, who makes a pact with the local Witch. Who conjures up a Demon to take revenge on a group of teenagers responsible for accidentally killing Harley’s young son. Harley is portrayed by Lance Henriksen, who reportedly was so excited to play the role. That he had special dentures made and picked out his wardrobe himself by shopping around local stores and yard sales. As you may expect the Creature Design is nothing short of spectacular and the film not only engages you with its story but Lance Henriksen’s portrayal of the troubled Father makes the film worth seeing. This is one of my all-time favorite movies to watch during the Halloween season, and after seeing this. It might be yours as well.
